You know your written material is vital to your business. Whether you need fresh posts for your promotional blog, irresistible sales copy, engaging web copy or just to have your own writing polished to a shine, you know that poor writing and mechanical mistakes can cost you successful customer relationships. And your happy customers are the core of your business success.
So, how do you ensure that your writing grabs your customers’ attention and keeps it? That it represents your business in just the way you want? I have three words for you: Joy and Writing. My business is a full-service writing experience. Here’s an overview of what I provide.
There are times when you need a brand-new piece of writing created from scratch and tailor-made to your specifications. I’ll be glad to help. I can write in several formats, including blogs, articles, web copy, and copywriting. I have training and experience in all these areas as well as SEO research, fiction, creative non-fiction, and more. I have been published in multiple magazines, journals and anthologies. My past clients include “Our Canada” magazine, “Nature Photographer” magazine, and most recently, “The Zooanthology” available on Amazon. I encourage you to check out some examples of my work on my “Writing Samples” page.
Even the best-written piece of copy can be completely marred by just one slip, grammar error, or missed typo. And sometimes a piece of writing can be improved or clarified 100% by the simple re-arrangement of a sentence, a word change or a punctuation change. I am a certified copyeditor who has spent the last nine years working with professional documents in a corporate environment. I am versed in Chicago Manual of Style and the AP Style book. I also have experience and familiarity with the APA Style Guide, the Canadian Press Style Guide and more. I can provide an in-depth analysis of the structure, flow and voice of your written work, or I can give it a high-level review to ensure all your grammar and punctuation is correct and ready to go.
I take your editing very seriously and I take it to a new level. These days, all it takes is one idea out of line to cause the kind of controversy and negative publicity that your business could be wrestling with for years. To make sure your business is presented as an all-inclusionary and diverse organization that welcomes, values and respects all its customers, Joy and Writing provides you with sensitivity reading and inclusionary consultations. Does your written documentation address all clientele equally? Does it inadvertently push hurtful stereotypes and generalizations? As an Indigenous Canadian, descended from the Tsimshian First Nation in British Columbia I have a strong sensitivity to these kinds of written-language issues. I am currently working toward my certification as a sensitivity reader.
